Background
As authorized by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and Order in
Council 208/2024, the Town issues lottery licences to charitable and non-profit organizations
conducting lottery events within the municipality to raise funds for charitable purposes.
Eligible events include raffles, bazaar games and bingo events.

2026 Preliminary Budget
Background
The Mayor executed the strong mayor powers under sections 284.3 and 284.16 of the Municipal Act,
2001, S.O. 2001, c.25 and directed a budget to be drafted that conforms with the best practices
utilized by the Town in previous years, maintaining services, with a maximum tax increase of 2% by
February 1, 2026.
Summary
The draft preliminary budget maintained the directed 2% tax rate increase resulting in a total budget
of $29,356,890 an increase of $7,324,534 over last year.
The municipal levy increase over the year-end 2025 levy, roll as revised is at 1.63%, $148,484. In
comparison, the 2025 increase was $253,452 at 2.88%.
