Wilmot meetings this week: agendas empty, no decisions made

In the past two weeks, the Township of Wilmot held three meetings — a Committee of Adjustment session, a Heritage Wilmot and Castle Kilbride Advisory Committee meeting, and a special Council meeting. None of the agendas contained substantive items for discussion or decision. All three were limited to procedural boilerplate, according to the published agendas. Minutes have not yet been released for any of them.

Committee of Adjustment — August 5

The Committee of Adjustment met on August 5, 2026. The agenda contained only procedural boilerplate and no specific items for discussion or decision. No applications, variances, or other matters were listed.

Heritage Wilmot and Castle Kilbride Advisory Committee — August 11

This committee met on August 11, 2026. Its agenda also consisted solely of procedural text from the eSCRIBE software. No decisions or discussions were listed.

Special Council Meeting — August 13

The special Council meeting on August 13, 2026, followed the same pattern. The agenda included only procedural boilerplate and embedded content placeholders. No motions, reports, bylaws, public hearings, or other actionable items were listed.

Because none of these meetings had substantive items, no votes were taken and no decisions were made. Residents should not expect any new actions or policy changes from these sessions.

Coming up

Wilmot council approves $4.5M water system replacement, zoning changes

Wilmot Township council at its June 22 meeting approved a $4.5 million contract to replace the water system in Petersburg and passed several zoning amendments, including allowing residential use in institutional zones.

Council unanimously awarded a $4,473,557.45 contract to T. Musselman Excavating for the Petersburg Water System Replacement. A separate $67,649.75 geotechnical services contract was approved with GRIT Engineering Inc., also unanimously.

Zoning changes approved included:

• Zone Change 04/26 for 2342 Snyder’s Road East to reduce lot requirements (unanimous)
• Residential use amendments for Zone 12 (Institutional) and repeal of Interim Control By-law 2025-75 (unanimous)
• Draft Plan of Subdivision 30T-22602 and Zone Change 11/22 for Activa Holdings in Baden (carried)

Council also approved a five-year lease renewal for the Wilmot Seniors Woodworking and Craft Centre (unanimous), the acquisition of 15 Driver Feedback Signs from Kalitec (unanimous), and the Castle Kilbride Strategic Plan 2026-2031 (unanimous).

Coming up

Committee of Adjustment – July 8 at 7 p.m. The committee will hold public hearings for three minor variance applications: A-10/26 at 226 Shade Street, New Hamburg; A-11/26 at 2451 Huron Road; and B-06/26 at 2342 Snyder’s Road East. The meeting will also adopt minutes from June 3.

Heritage Wilmot and Castle Kilbride Advisory Committee – July 14. The agenda contains only procedural items with no specific decisions or discussions listed.
