We had a little presentation, a pleasurable one at that, prior to our meeting tonight, our youth bursary awards. Recipients were here in person. Macy Greer was the $1,000 award recipient. Asia Johnson-McBride was a $600 award recipient. And McKenzie Swan was a $400 award recipient. That presentation, as I indicated, just took place with pictures and family and it was great to see them all. Congratulations to each of them. Um as I'm calling this meeting to order, I think we acknowledged it at 6:01. Um Michelle, did you want to handle land acknowledgement? >> Certainly, thank you. Good evening everyone. It is Monday, April the 13th and this is the Township of Leeds in the Thousand Islands uh monthly council meeting and we're calling the meeting to order at 6 PM. And please rise for the playing of the national anthem. Heat. Heat. Heat. We will begin with the land acknowledgement. ment with gratitude. The township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands acknowledges these lands and waters are the traditional territory of the Alangquin, Missagas, Mohawk, and Heron Wendat. To recognize the role the township must play in truth and reconciliation, we also acknowledge the displacement of these peoples. Additionally, the township we would like to respectfully acknowledge the First Nations, Inuit, and Matei peoples who also call this place home. We make this land acknowledgement to honor the indigenous ancestors who have stewarded these lands and waters since time immemorial. We'll move forward with our first motion moved by deputy mayor FOD, seconded by uh councelor maybe that the agenda be adopted as circulated and that council waves procedural bylaw to allow for the addition of a delegation section in item 8 and that council elects to amend the council meeting schedule to move the May council meeting from the 11th to the 12th of 2026. The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands will approve the purchase of a half-ton pickup truck for $64,617.60 and a shade structure for Centennial Park for $64,299.09. The council also approved a new Municipal Flag Policy and voted to oppose the Alto High Speed Rail proposal.

The township of Leeds in the Thousand Islands acknowledges that these lands and waters are traditional territory of the Algangquin, Missaga's Mohawk, and Heron Wendad. To recognize the role that the township must play in truth and reconciliation, we also acknowledge the displacement of these peoples. Additionally, the township would like to respectfully acknowledge the First Nations, Inuit, and Matei people who also call this place home. We make this land acknowledgement to honor the indigenous ancestors who have stewarded these lands and waters since time in memorial. On to number three of our agenda, which is the adoption of the agenda. Motion comes forward from councelor lackey, seconded by councelor Kelman that the agenda be adopted as circulated.
