for the legislative and the regulatory framework when it comes to fire services across um the entire provinces province and uh most recently they've introduced the bill 186 which is the support for um fire protection services act the province is also responsible for the oversight the training the standards the certifications piece of of it all. Um, and the regulation fire commissions in our municipality, we have a unique situation where the majority of our departments are uh governed by commissions. Um, there's no one scenario in the province. We're learning that is the same in terms of governance structure. But for us, commissions have a big part in terms of the decision-m when it comes to the municipality's role. Um we have six out of the seven that the commissions are taxing authorities responsible for budgeting, financial oversight and policy direction for their departments. The Chester Fire Services Committee is not technically a commission but it is treated as a commission. So it also provides that governance role um for the Chester Fire Department. Fire departments are the the ones responsible for delivering the service and the operational um response that includes training typically. So implementing the training um and maintenance of being ready and identification of the needs and the priorities within their communities. So as I mentioned the municipality then supports the entire service within the municipality in the form of um coordination liaison activities with th …
